The Russian authorities will allocate 387 million rubles. for the production of a drug for coronavirus "MIR 19"

Moscow. April 10th. INTERFAX.RU - 387 million rubles will be allocated to improve the production lines necessary for the mass production of the MIR 19 coronavirus drug, the corresponding order was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"Money will be allocated to the Institute of Immunology State Research Center, which is the developer of this drug, and will be used, among other things, to modernize and purchase the necessary equipment. Technological renewal will allow the production of new antiviral drugs. This is especially important in the face of the threat of the emergence of new strains of coronavirus," - said in a message on the website of the government on Sunday.

The drug "MIR 19" was registered by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in December 2021. It is effective against all strains of coronavirus studied, including Delta and Omicron, the government notes.

"MIR" stands for small interfering RNA. The drug was created on the basis of synthetic small interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA). It will be produced in the form of dry matter in Krasnoe Selo in St. Petersburg.
